The main aim of this course is to familiarize the architecture students with the fundamentals of interior architecture. This course commences with the definition of interior spaces and interior elements. Materials and the crucial role of materials in interior design is part of the course agenda. Special attention is paid to interior detailing and the way various materials are creatively selected, composed and assembled in order to create a design language. Also the way the choice of material defines the character of the interior environment and the way the occupants respond to the interior character is also part of the course curriculum. Color and its application in interior spaces are also discussed. The outcome of this course is to establish an introductory base for architecture students in order to critically think and engage with designing interior spaces.
