The course aims to provide (international) students with a basic knowledge of the various aspects of public international law. This course will provide students with enough knowledge to enable them to participate actively in other, more specialised courses on Public International Law. Part two of this course would focus on topics such as the concept of sovereignty and state recognition, state jurisdiction, the acquisition and loss of territory, state responsibility, treaties and other international legal agreements, the pacific settlement of disputes, the use of force, international institutions, and human rights.
