MIRP 504 ADVANCED DIPLOMATIC HISTORY: This course analyzes important developments in world history which shaped the modern international system. Firstly, it concentrates on the establishment of the sovereign state system in Europe following the Westphalia Peace Treaty and the transformation of European nation-states to colonial empires. Subsequently, it focuses on the two world wars and especially the transformation of the international system after the end of the Second World War. The cause also analyzes the characteristics of the Cold War period and its peaceful end in the 1990s.
